26/03/08 : New PACCI President Statement
It is with pleasure that I write a few words as the third President of the Polish-Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PACCI). Our previous two presidents, Eva Hussain and Maurice Sikorski, were both extremely hard working and achieved much in their short and intense terms as President – I can only hope to live up to the high standards they have set.
Inaugural president Eva’s focus was on establishing PACCI and conducting successful business related seminars for PACCI members and to recruit new members. Maurice presided over the excellent Taste of Poland function in late 2007, which attracted hundreds of Polish and Australian networkers.
PACCI provides a focal point for the Polish and Australian business and wider community in the areas of trade, business, legislation, services and professional development - collecting and disseminating information relevant to the Polish-Australian community and facilitating Polish-Australian networking.
In 2008 PACCI intends to provide Polish-Australian networking opportunities and an information exchange forum, with particular emphasis on networking with other Polish related organisations. Our planned activities are:
- The Polish Business Directory, April 2008
- A business seminar in the city, mid year 2008
- Taste of Poland function (mark 11), late 2008
In order to build on our successes and create more, we need more Committee members to assist Henry Stolerek, Ania Kurzak and Sebastian Oraniec. Thanks are due to former committee member Voytek W Mielczarek.

26/11/07 : A Taste of Poland
Those in attendance were predominantly, but not only, of Polish extraction or related to Poles and the authentic traditional Polish country cuisine was prepared by the four members of the Lesiak family, who run the London Steak House in Warsaw and flew over especially for the occasion.
The function commenced with the magnificent piano playing of Alan Kogosowski and the gorgeous, talented singer Emily Xiowang. Later the Melbourne based Polish dance troupe Polonez presented an authentic version of the traditional and graceful Mazurka, as they have annually in Poland in recent years.
The first course soup was one you would not find in any restaurant in Melbourne but was just as you might find from a traditional Polish cook’s kitchen. Then followed traditional dish after traditional dish – just as a Polish ‘mother used to make’ – in traditional Polish quantities to ensure that any diets were forgotten for the day!
The attendance by a substantial cross-section of the Polish community and related/ interested parties, and everyone’s obvious enjoyment in the day’s cultural and culinary delights, augurs well for making this an annual event at Nine Darling Street, a venue reflecting the Polish tradition perfectly.
Maurice Sikorski, the PACCI president, said that PACCI as an organisation exists to facilitate Polish Australian business networking, and the Taste of Poland certainly facilitated networking – people did not want to leave.

06/07/07 : New PACCI President Statement
It is my great honor to serve as the 2006 President of the Polish-Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PACCI), as we begin our second year of service to the Australian and Polish business communities.
The first year proved to be an intensive year with the necessary preparations to set up all the administrative and statutory provisions for an organization to proceed. With the help of our past President and committee members, we as an organization, were successful in obtaining a small grant from the Victorian Government to proceed with our first seminar held at the Celtic Club; this was a major success.
Special thanks to the committee members who worked tirelessly and at times long hours to make the 2005 year a success. Without their dedication and tenacity we would not have been able to achieve the tasks set out in the 2005 year.
This coming year will equally be intensive and the Chamber's major objective is to produce a comprehensive and high caliber Business Directory for businesses wishing to advertise in this directory. The Directory will be launched later this year.
The Chamber provides a representative voice for the Polish and Australian business communities in the areas of trade, business, legislation, services and professional development. In addition to promoting trade between Poland and Australia, the Chamber's role extends to:
* collecting and disseminating information relevant to the Polish-Australian community
* providing networking opportunities and an information exchange forum to members; and
* building a unified business community with interests in Poland and Australia
With accession into the European Union in May 2004, Poland's economy holds many great opportunities for Australian and Polish companies.
Maurice Sikorski
President
Polish Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry
